I'm a 30-something year old wife and mother of three wonderful boys. After many years of emotional & mental issues, medication issues and (obviously) food issues, I have ended up overweight and tired all the time. Knowing my illnesses will not get better if I don't become healthier I had decided to start the long journey to Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) to better myself. I want to be the fun, healthy mom... and dare I say it?... the 'hot mom' & wife. Here's my journey before and after my gastric bypass surgery, along with some recipes.

Medical Alert

Again... I've been doing research... and this time I found that it is a good idea for Gastric Bypass patients to have a medical alert bracelet.  It's at our own discretion, of course, but I read the reasons and such in many articles and it makes sense.  On the off chance that something should happen to me after the surgery, I want to make sure I'm covered if I'm unable to speak.  Here's some articles I've read to help me come to my decision to order a medical alert bracelet....

The 2nd link is from Lauren's Hope, which is the website where I ordered my M.A. Tag from.  They have some beautiful bracelets that you can mix & match with your tag, but I decided to save some money and just order the tag and make the bracelets myself, for now.  Here's what I got...

I ended up only spending about $10 on the supplies to make 5 bracelets... here are 4 of them.  I've read a lot of blogs about gastric bypass and realize that the doctors are not in the habit of suggesting that their patients get a MA Tag.  I don't know why, and maybe they don't see it necessary, but from the things I've read, I'm in the mind frame of 'better be safe than sorry'.  So, agree or disagree, I'm going to be wearing my pretty bracelets after my surgery, because you never know what could happen!!
